  • Current 7th graders: scheduling forms are due to the office tomorrow.

  • Last night the School Board decided to change the mask policy to be optional in all cases. While many of you are likely to be very excited by this update, I’m asking everyone to respect anyone who may choose to wear a mask here at school. We will have continued discussion regarding barriers: whether we’ll keep them up, some of them, etc.

  • The School Board also decided to make May 28 the last day of school for grades PK-8. The staff and I will be working out the details of the plan for the final days of school. More to follow.

  • A follow up from the previous morning announcement. As I announced, masks are optional for students and the expectation is we are all respectful to those who choose to wear them. Any teasing, picking on, or potential bullying will not be tolerated. Any student who experiences such negativity should contact an adult immediately. Any student who engages in this type of behavior (negative toward a student who chooses to wear a mask) will be severely disciplined.

  • Current 7th graders, your scheduling forms for next year are due in the office today. Please make sure you drop them off.

  • Some reminders from yesterday. The School Board decided to change the mask policy to be optional in all cases. While many of you are likely to be very excited by this update, we’re asking everyone to respect anyone who may choose to wear a mask here at school. Let’s show our Spartan Pride and “the golden rule” to treat others as we would like to be treated. Any teasing, picking on, or potential bullying will not be tolerated. Any student who experiences such negativity should contact an adult immediately. Staff members should report that information to Mr. Chandler. Any student who engages in this type of behavior (negative toward a student who chooses to wear a mask) will be severely disciplined.

  • If you are wearing YELLOW today...thank you for participating in STING CANCER!  Students: a staff member will come around during spartan time  today for anyone wearing yellow  to enter for a chance to win a subway gift card.  Winner will be announced this afternoon.

  • A few words about the updated mask decision of the school board.

  • Masks will not be required outside including recess. However, masks will continued to be required in ALL areas of the building with the following exception: in classes where six feet of social distancing can be achieved AND you can be behind barriers.

  • Essentially, classes with smaller number might be able to do this where those with larger numbers may not. This will be at the direction of your teacher. The BIG reason: we want to stay open for in person school as long as possible. And, contact tracing will continue at six feet in all directions per the health department.

  • With that in mind, it’ll also be important for students to be very quiet when going to the gym for Yearbook photos.

Wednesday, March 10, 2021
A Day
  • Yesterday, when 8th graders were outside we were able to learn, and remember, a few things related to outside recess expectations. Whenever we go out again it’s possible we will still need to stay off the grass and walk the “bus loop”. To clarify, the expectation is to only walk the oval where the buses park, not go all the way down to Marcks Lane, the fencing, or to the IS or PS playground areas.

  • It seems appropriate to remind everyone of the Spartan Way (Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Safe) and the Golden Rule. Also, for those who are routinely doing the right things - thank you. We encourage you to stand up for what is right and appreciate your efforts to positively set boundaries and influence your peers to do good things as well.

Friday, March 12, 2021
A Day
  • Golf sign up will be available after spring break.  Reminder...if you haven’t played a school-sponsored sport yet (last fall or this winter), you need to have a sports physical before the start of practice if you plan to golf or run track this spring.

  • All students, please bring your Chromebooks to Spartan Time today for our Team Building Competition!!

  • A lot of you, all of us really, may be excited about spring break. That’s completely understandable. Let’s all do our best to have a great day, in the Spartan Way, today. There’s still work to be done before we can all relax.

  • Reminder to all 8th grade art students, if you are planning on finishing your portraits over the break, be sure to stop in the art room and pick up any supplies you will need before leaving for the day.
