2020 Graduation

Luxemburg-Casco High School Graduation
Sunday, August 2, 2020 @ 1:00PM
L-C Football Field

The final decision has been made to have graduation outside, but please note there is a small chance of rain.  You may want to bring ponchos, towels or umbrellas.  Umbrellas can impede the view of graduates,  so please be courteous to those around you.

Should the weather develop into heavy rain  or lightning  we will direct you to your vehicles until it is safe to return.

The ceremony will be live-streaming for those who cannot attend and the link is available above. The ceremony will also be incorporated into the virtual graduation,  available at a later date.

Parking will be available beginning at 12PM, graduates will meet behind the south end zone to line up.

Seating has been designated in the bleachers with blue tape (seating is every other row) and there are chairs on the field behind the graduates, at a safe social distance. We ask you not move chairs or sit outside of the designated seating.

Please enter the field at the north end by the concession stand, you will have the opportunity to pick up a program and if you have tickets at Will Call, they will be available there.

Harmann Studios will once again be taking pictures for this year's graduation. They will only take one photo of students after they have received their diploma (masks can be removed). We will be purchasing a 5x7 of each student with their diploma and will send these to your homes at a later date. If you are interested in ordering additional photos-here is a link to an online ordering form. NOTE:This link will expire at midnight on August 1st.

You can also mail in orders by printing the order form attached and sending to Harmann's.

PRACTICE LOCATION CHANGE: Due to construction we will now do a quick review of the ceremony outside the south end of the football field. Please be there, ready to go in cap and gown by 12:00PM on August 2.

Important updates for the 2020 Graduation scheduled for August 2nd at 1:00PM in the Sports Complex.

  • If you are a graduate and WILL NOT be attending graduation and have not notified Ms. Romatowski, please email ASAP so that seating is accounted for.
  • Graduate names will be read as follows during ceremony: First Name, Middle Name, Last Name.  If this should be different, a PARENT must email Ms. Romatowski by July 29th with any changes.
  • Tickets will be mailed out shortly (4 total tickets for each graduate)  The parent tickets will be blue and are good for either an outdoor or indoor ceremony. Any additional tickets included, to reach the 4 ticket total, will be red special guest tickets. The red tickets are only good for an outdoor ceremony.
  • Graduates will need to wear masks while walking across the stage to receive their diploma (we have special masks for students), they may then remove for photo and while seated. If we are required to move inside due to weather, masks will be required the entire time by all in attendance. If we have to move indoors, we will make an announcement by 9:00AM the day of graduation, please check website and Facebook for information.
  • Please see link to seating chart for ideas on where to sit to have a view of graduate (this may change due to graduates not attending). We will follow social distancing protocol for seating in bleachers and on the field. Do Not move chairs or sit with individuals NOT living in your same household. No chairs on track unless placed by school staff.
  • PRACTICE LOCATION CHANGE: Due to construction we will now do a quick review of the ceremony outside the south end of the football field. Please be there, ready to go in cap and gown by 12:00PM.
  • The Sports Complex Parking Lot will open at 12:00PM (no ability to save seats ahead of time). Guests are able to bring their own water, NO UMBRELLAS and please consider using sunscreen!
  • Harmann will be taking one photo of each graduate with their diploma and order forms will be made available. L-C HS will also be providing each family with a free 5x7 of their student.
  • The ceremony will be live-streamed on the High School Facebook page and a virtual ceremony will also be made available after the ceremony.
  • Please do not congregate with others after graduation. We will need you to exit promptly and if taking pictures, please follow appropriate social distancing.

A graduation invite has been mailed to all of the graduates that includes the date, time and location of our ceremony. It also included a link where the graduates can request tickets for parents/guardians only to attend the ceremony. The parent/guardian tickets are good for both an outdoor or indoor ceremony.

Additional tickets will be made available July 20th depending on the COVID numbers and recommendations from the county. If possible we will expand the ticket number for each family up to 4 total tickets by including special guest tickets.(Special guest tickets are good for an outdoor ceremony only because of the limited ability to social distance if the ceremony needs to be moved inside. Families will not have to request special guest tickets, they will automatically be figured in with each family's maximum total of 4 tickets and mailed to the graduates July 20th.

The graduates will sit on the field or gym floor with the proper amount of spacing. For parents and (if possible) special guests, we will arrange the chairs in pairs 6 feet apart or marked off paired seating in the beachers 6 feet apart. This will help maintain social distancing.

The ceremony will be live streamed for all other individuals who are unable to attend in person.

Masks - If the ceremony is outside we would encourage people to have masks, but the heat could be a factor. We would still require the graduates to wear a mask when they go up for their diploma. They could remove it when they move the tassel over and before the graduation photo.

If the ceremony is inside we may need to require the use of a mask for everyone.

There is also a virtual version of graduation in the works, just in case the COVID pandemic would force the cancellation of any face to face meeting.

During the June 17, 2020 Luxemburg-Casco School Board meeting, the board voted to change the time of the 2020 graduation ceremony from 6:00pm to 1:00pm. The date and location of the ceremony remains the same, August 2, 2020 on the Luxemburg-Casco football field. This change was made when the district became aware that the local racetrack has events scheduled at the same time. It is the school board's wishes to provide our graduates and their families with a memorable experience and that would be difficult with the potential noise generated by the race cars. The district continues to work with guidance from the county health department as we work to finalize plans. We will be sending out a mailing to all graduates with more details in the near future.

Check back throughout the summer for additional details on 2020 Graduation.
