The Luxemburg – Casco School district has issued the following with regard to school closures for the week of March 16, 2020.

The situation with the coronavirus is unique to all of us.  As such, it is causing us to act in unique ways.  For example, delivering instruction to almost 2,000 students while they are at home presents unique challenges for which we are not fully prepared.  Because providing that instruction in a high quality and effective fashion is of great importance, staff and students will need time to adequately prepare for the upcoming extended school closure ordered by the Governor.  Therefore, the L-C School District will cancel school for students on Monday, March 16.  The purpose of this cancellation will be for staff and administration to plan how we will inform students about what at-home instruction will be like.  School will be in session for staff and students on Tuesday, March 17 so that students can learn about what instruction will be like and how to use the technology for the upcoming weeks.  School will then be closed for students Wednesday March 18 through Monday, April 6 per the governor’s order.

We will be reaching out to parents soon with additional information related to several issues such as accessing any computer devices and/or wireless connectivity devices, modified expectations for academic learning, accessing free and reduced lunch for those who qualify, plans for how we will disinfect each school building during the closure, etc.

St. Paul Lutheran Parochial School will make a determination later today about any school closures for the upcoming week.
